Absurd Accusations of Christians Being Persecuted in the United States:
Purposeful Misrepresentation of the Truth
This video/audio clip is excellent and is a very good example of how some Christians purposely distort the facts of a situation in an effort to make it appear as though they are being persecuted. Pay attention to what is said here and HOW it is said. The next clip after that is a rebuttal.
Religion is so full of crap I do not know where to begin. Here are the facts that the supposed persecuted Christians left out of their claim of persecution. Do you see it had absolutely NOTHING to do with religion? When you point that out to Christians don't be surprised when they respond with, "You are persecuting me by calling me a liar because of what I believe." No. No no no. I am calling you a liar because you ARE a liar.
This melancholy preacher or whatever he is goes on and on about how Christians are being persecuted in the United States. Then, to make things even better, they offer clips of individuals being arrested or questioned, but nowhere in these clips is it shown WHY these people are being arrested or questioned. And by the way, these more zainy fundamentalists really need to broaden the scope of their understanding of our freedoms. We all have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. That is great. Really.
No one is saying you cannot believe what you believe or preach what you believe. The problem is when and where people are doing this. It may be a public sidewalk, but were they causing a public nuisance? Were they disturbing business or interfering with a public right or privilege?
Too many Christians harbor an errant belief that the freedoms of speech and religion combined mean that they can do and say what they want in regards to Jesus regardless of whether or not people want to hear their shit. Do you think these same Christians would have a problem if it was someone standing on the corner talking about Wicca or Wizardry or magick? Hell no. They would never go for that. But the point is these people are going out of their way to misinterpret facts and situations in an effort to push the Jesus pill ever harder down the throats of anyone within hearing distance, while at the same time looking like some goddamn martyr.
These Christians are not being persecuted but rather are purposely pushing the boundaries of their freedoms until the freedoms of others who do not wish to believe in the same manner are impinged upon. Then when they are arrested (usually for disturbing the peace or not having a permit for large crowds or are on property where they have no idea where the boundary lines are) these idiots know exactly what they are doing and they want it to happen and even NEED it to happen in order to have something, anything to further their delusional cause.
You DO realize that an awful lot of pastors and preachers have an ugly habit of scaring the bejezzus out of the congregations, right? If these guys stuck to their messages of love a lot of things would be a hell of a lot better. Unbelievers do not make the world difficult for Christians, at least NOT in this country. You assholes do it to yourself by completely disregarding and disrespecting the rights of your fellow men who would rather NOT listen to your poisonous rhetoric. No one is going into your churches demanding that you cease preaching your gospel of disaster. Nope.
But, hey...you go right on ahead and continue misinterpreting politics and society and all that if you think it makes you feel better. You go right on ahead and give terrifying prediction after terrifying prediction as to the end of the world. You go right on ahead and try to create situations where you look like persecuted martyrs. As time goes by more and more people will continue to become wise as to your religious antics and completely ignore you. No one wants to persecute you, morons. We just don't want to hear your spiritual double-speak as you struggle to grab the reigns of control to something you never had control of or right to to begin with.
Check this guy out. He says that up to this point there has never really been religious persecution in America. Really? What about the persecution of people at the very hands of the Christians...say like the women murdered in the Salem Witch Trials? Does that ring a bell with any of you sanctimonious Christians out there who think they are right and everyone else is wrong? It does not count as persecution unless it is Christians on the receiving end, is that it? Are the people whom Christianity has persecuted in this country not as valuable as Christian citizens? Why do you only offer ambiguous statements and misinterpretations of statements or events? Is that how you are trying to prove you are being persecuted?
You know what? If Christians don't want to be portrayed as maniacal zealots then maybe, just maybe they should improve their behavior. And I am NOT saying they cannot believe what they want. No. They just need to understand they are most certainly NOT the only group in the United States to whom the freedoms of speech and religion apply. They are NOT the only group with the freedom to choose and following that people do not have to use their power to choose to choose Christianity or any other religion for that matter.
Justice is not what the Christian majority says it is. Justice is ensuring that everyone has their rights protected...this includes protecting the rights of atheists and any other group. As the government works harder and harder at trying to ensure fair treatment and equal rights the Christians can feel their grip on America and American politics and society slipping away. They do not like this nor do they want it because how do you tihnk they are going to feel when they finally realize they are no better than everyone else and certainly NOT entitled to more than anyone else?
